        To Good To Be True?

        I spoke to an excellent salesman about the policy over the phone -- he explored all the many options, and because I had lots of questions, followed up with me on several occasions with variations. The price and duration of the policy were also the best I found. Then, when I was ready to buy, my e-mails to him bounced, and he never returned my phone calls. If this company doesn't track and follow its potential customers when they stand to EARN money, it makes me wonder how responsive they'd be when it came time for them to PAY OUT!?

        AutoAssure - Expert Extended Warranty Review

        Overview/Summary:

        AutoAssure is an auto warranty company that provides supplemental or extended service contracts cars, trucks or SUVs. They are an independent company able to provide nationwide on behalf of industry-leading administrators and insured by A rated A.M. best insurance companies. They approach help customers select a plan that best fits their needs with contract specialists guiding them through the different lengths of coverage, levels of coverage, deductibles, prices and payment options. They pride themselves on working with only the highest-rated administrators and insurance companies, in order to  provide their customers with the education necessary to protect themselves against the high prices of repairs.

        Coverage:

        Auto insurance typically covers damage caused to vehicles by an accident, theft, fire and other natural disasters but what AutoAssure provides are vehicle service plans are to repair the covered mechanical failures in vehicles  if they breakdown under normal use after the initial manufacturer’s warranty has expired.

        Auto Assure offers four different plan options that are tiered levels from one another. In ranking from the most basic to the most comprehensive: AutoAssure plans are as follows: Basic Powertrain, Powertrain Plus, Gold Component Plan, and Platinum Exclusionary Plan.

        • Basic Powertrain

        Their most basic form of coverage is able to protect what is widely considered to be the most critical parts of a vehicle: engine, transmission, and drive axle. This is geared towards high mileage vehicles and customers who want basic protection from really expensive covered repairs. In order to qualify and keep coverage, it is required that customers continue to maintain their vehicle according to the manufacturers recommended maintenance schedule.

        • Powertrain Plus

        In addition to engine, transmission and drive axle, the Plus program also offers additional coverage for mechanical and electrical components such as the water pump, air conditioning, starter, alternator and power window motors.

        • Gold Component Plan

        One of the higher levels of coverage This vehicle service plan is arguably AutoAssure’s most comprehensive plan for vehicles that have upwards of  100,000 current miles on them. It is able to provide coverage for the  engine, transmission, water pump, drive axle, starter, alternator, electrical, brakes, steering and much more but not to the point where it can be labled exclusionary coverage.

        • Platinum Exclusionary Plan

        This is AutoAssure’s plan designed to match those of the original manufacturer’s warranty on a new car. It provides coverage for ALL parts and components of the covered vehicle with only exceptions including normal wear and tear such as tires, batteries, and light bulbs. It comproses coverage of everything from major items such as engine, transmission, all the way down to smaller parts like the fuel pump, brakes, and air conditioning.

        There is no big difference between the two powertrain options enough to warrant the “Plus” program as it’s own separate tier. When viewing the “Compare Coverage” page on their website, the checklist shows the exact same coverage terms for both. Even after researching their provided information we found the differences between the two options to be minimal at best so potential customers would do well when requesting quotes for these two plans and  should pay extra mind to the prices of each one and judge whether the increase will be worth the premium.

        Benefits:

        Each policy that AutoAssure offers allows for customers to customize to their needs: choosing the deductible, length of coverage, and components covered. They even allow owners the ability to choose their own repair facility for needed repairs. On top of that, with few restrictions and/or fees: all of AutoAssure’s  warranties are transferable and renewable.

        AutoAssure’s  contracts can be cancelled at any time. There is even a period for the first 30 days after the first down payment where if you  cancel prior to the end  that time period, your down payment will be fully refunded to you. After that, customers can cancel at any time by submitting a notarized cancellation form and the contract will be cancelled and they may be eligible for a pro-rated refund. If a customer does not send the cancellation form or payment prior to the next payment due date, they will be automatically cancelled for non-payment and may not be entitled to the pro-rated refund.

         Accreditation:

        AutoAssure is a well-rated company but they do have very few important awards and accreditation. They are a gold-certified member by the Vehicle Protection Association the vehicle protection association.

         Customer Service:

        AutoAssure has a highly trained customer support staff known for extensive automobile and service-related experience to help customers with their needs. They can be reached toll free at 1-800-211-0988 with agents available 24/7.

        Besides the issue of only being available by phone, if an issue does arise, an AutoAssure policyholder should little to no reaching out to the company for a resolution. At the time of this review, however, there has no live chat feature.
